VPN.ac servers blocked by Netflix:

Unlike many providers, Romania-based VPN.ac does not mention unblocking content or accessing content on its features page.

In a blog post published after Netflix’s announcement in 2016, the company said that they had “seen [the lockdown] coming” following Netflix’s global expansion, which they found that Netflix’s lack of transparency in its regional content offerings equates to “false advertising”. “

An additional statement notes that the rationale that Netflix blocked VPNs in the first place, and therefore at the behest of content owners, was an “archaic entertainment distribution model.”

Private Tunnel servers blocked by Netflix:

Private Tunnel, a California-based VPN provider, was not ready to connect to any of the Netflix servers we tested, a limitation that the company is aware of and does not attempt to fix.

Founded in 1988 and based in the Czech Republic, Avast may be a multinational cybersecurity software company that makes everything from VPN to virus protection.

Their VPN, Avast SecureLine, has the power to unblock content; specifically, their website notes that with SecureLine, “you will enjoy your favorite TV shows when you select.” However, we found that Netflix was blocked on all the servers we tested.

F-Secure Freedome servers blocked by Netflix:

F-Secure’s motto posted directly on its home page, is “Protect your privacy. Access blocked content. “Which makes it somewhat surprising that every single server we tested, five in all, was blocked.

Digging deeper, we found out that the location issued a 2016 press release, post-ban, which is still referenced in today’s support forums. It says in the statement that they need limited ways to stop third-party blocking and expect customers to abide by third-party terms.

Hoxx VPN servers blocked by Netflix:

Germany-based Hoxx VPN mentioned the power of bypassing blocked websites and refers to “geographic content,” but does not specifically mention streaming and that we were unable to access Netflix using it.

Conclusion

The war between Netflix and VPN providers after the ban has not been a pleasant one, as VPN users declared that they are canceling their Netflix subscriptions as a result of the ban on VPN providers desperately trying to find solutions just to be locked again.

Until the licensing model changes, or until Netflix can figure out how to make all of its content available globally, the goal they mentioned in their 2016 statement announcing the ban, is a war that will continue to rage.
