Comodo Antivirus: Pros & Cons

In my tests, I found a variety of advantages and disadvantages for Comodo. Here are some of the most important:

  • Feature-rich free version
  • Easy to use and comes with tight documentation

  • Many options do not work well
  • You get incomplete third-party verification scores
  • Undoubtedly poor quality writing signs.
  • Look and feel of outdated apps
  • Incorrectly marks legitimate files as malware

Independent antivirus testing labs often compare antivirus programs. Comodo is not one of the most modern antivirus suites, so test results are few and far between. AV-Test, an independent Associate in a Nursing antivirus testing organization, claims that the premium version of Comodo’s security suite works well against real-world malware.

PC Magazine found that Comodo mishandled hand-modded ransomware samples. This tells you that your heuristic engine isn’t quite up to the task. Advanced or tailor-made threats would possibly go unnoticed.

In my tests, I found that I incorrectly knew Lavasoft net Companion as malware. For starters, it seemed to terminate its parts like malware, calling its effectiveness into question.

Based on the relative lack of unbiased data on Comodo’s security performance, it is difficult to form a sophisticated judgment.

To its credit, Comodo is full of useful options. I reviewed some of the most useful ones here.

Default Deny Protection

Instead of allowing all files except those marked as malware to run, Comodo will block every application that is not on its whitelist. In theory, Comodo includes a large enough variety of legitimate programs in its data that this feature provides a security benefit without any usability drawbacks.

Auto-Sandbox Technology

When Comodo finds a viable Nursing Associate who is not on his whitelist, he will move to a segregated environment. This way, you can be sure that the programs you transfer will not steal your data or compromise your computer.

Game Mode

Comodo’s gaming mode disables annoying alerts from its antivirus parts so they don’t touch your gaming sessions. This feature has become quite common in home antivirus solutions. At the time of writing, Comodo does not appear to provide Auto Play mode. As a result, you will need to activate this feature manually.

Email Security

Like several different antimalware programs, Comodo scans your emails (and attachments) for potential viruses and malware. Plus, it helps prevent spam and other email threats.

Comodo Antivirus for Linux

Linux users, unlike their Windows counterparts, generally do not use the Associate in Nursing antivirus response. Compared to Windows, UNIX system malware is quite rare. For starters, UNIX system users generally have higher technical skills, which makes them less prone to malware such as Trojan horses. That said, given the quality of Linux on the server, malware for the UNIX system exists.

Malicious GNOME Shell extensions, malware that exploits bugs in common UNIX system software, and even malware in the Ubuntu Snap Store are prominent examples.

To combat threats on UNIX system desktops, Comodo offers a version of its antivirus product for the UNIX system. However, my experiences with this product were not smart. finding the UNIX system version of Comodo needs some work, it’s not on its main download page.

The installation fails after you successfully upload the DEB or RPM file (for Debian- and RHEL-based systems, respectively). I get the Nursing Associate problem “unsuccessful dependency: libssl0.9.8” on Ubuntu. In other words, the Comodo package is based on an OpenSSL version that hasn’t received any security updates since January 1, 2016.

Since then, millions of high-severity bugs have been fixed in OpenSSL. It doesn’t speak well that the Associate in Nursing Associate in Nursingtivirus program is obsessed with an old and insecure version of an essential cryptography library. And their support page for the UNIX system also returns an error, so I couldn’t find any information to help fix the problem.

If Comodo for UNIX depends on OpenSSL 0.9.8, it seems certain that the program itself, not the virus definitions, has not been updated since 2015. The date of the last change in the first functional file at intervals the. DEB file is the twenty-fifth Gregorian calendar month of 2013.

One of Comodo’s biggest marketing points is its free tier. While other antivirus programs allow you to get complete security and convenience, Comodo antivirus won’t cost you a dime. Other options — a firewall of sorts, a “safe shopping” feature, and network filtering response — cost $29.99 a year for one device or $39.99 for three devices.

Ease of Use

A good security software system has to be easy to use. It should work as the user expects it to. Unless it detects a security problem, it should exit the user’s system. To judge the simple use of Comodo, I tried the installation method and simulated traditional use.

Comodo Installation

My test installation left something to be desired for several reasons:

  • It was set to bloatware by default. Comodo’s “secure internet browser” is not required and can create a security risk. This browser is based on metal, the base of Google Chrome’s ASCII text file. However, unlike Chrome, Comodo’s browser doesn’t update as quickly and has presented its major security issues in the past.
  • It took forever. Despite my 300 Mbps web connection and fast SSD installation disk, Comodo took a disproportionately long time to install. While installation speed probably isn’t your big concern once you select Associate in Nursing antivirus, it’s a bad sign.
  • Installation of parts for the virtual desktop feature fails. On our test computer, Comodo did not install the necessary parts to support this feature. This practicality has not been tested recently (or extensively).
    • Also, I thought it was strange that the virtual desktop feature needed the “secure” Comodo Dragon browser and thus the deprecated Microsoft Silverlight browser plugin. Microsoft Silverlight is not compatible with any application programs other than deadly web 11; Microsoft formally deprecated it in 2012.

Comodo Interface

Like dozens of alternative antivirus packages, Comodo uses a highly customized UI toolkit. As a result, its windows and user interface controls are not quite in sync with alternative Windows applications.

Comodo Antivirus Review

In my comparatively short amount of testing, I discovered a variety of annoyances and problems with Comodo’s user interface:

  • When I maximized the scan window, the user interface didn’t work properly.
  • The main window cannot be resized. whenever the scan window doesn’t work once maximized, I think that window was mistakenly created with resizable. That said, both windows should be designed to work at any size.
  • The interface continuously draws on alternative applications. Some antivirus packages attract alternative applications for security-critical messages. Comodo will do it interchangeably, which defeats the objective of Nursing Associates to an extent. once every window is “top priority”, nothing is “top priority”.
  • It looks old. The best-looking Comodo themes didn’t work, they exploit the US state to use a look that harkens back to the Windows view.

Comodo Stability

However, on my second day of testing, I discovered the biggest problem. even though I manually disabled Comodo, it started a full system scan on its own. One thing went wrong with the method. My test of the computer’s RAM and drive usage ran out quickly, forcing me to reboot the machine.

It is possible that this experience was unique. It’s unlikely though – the test machine was a pretty standard Windows computer.

Comodo Mobile App

In addition to its desktop merchandise, Comodo makes a mobile app for iOS and automata. Compared to their desktop counterparts, the Comodo Mobile Security apps perform quite well. Above all, they provide a VPN Associate in nursing as a fraud protection service.

Comodo’s mobile app isn’t Associate in Nursing’s antivirus answer, however, antivirus generally isn’t a good fit for smartphones anyway. there are better VPNs and privacy solutions outside of Comodo; equally, their mobile app isn’t dangerous (especially since it’s free).

Comodo offers a web knowledge domain for your merchandise. plus, they provide paid phone support on their $199.99 p.a. GeekBuddy Subscription.

When I ran into challenges when trying out the Comodo package, I looked at their support website. The link to the article about your version of the UNIX system didn’t work, which left a bad impression. On the other hand, the article about the virtual desktop feature was informative, though it didn’t make it easy for the US state to install the parts.

Final Verdict

While Comodo Antivirus is available for the low price of the free version, it doesn’t go down well with other options, especially the ones mentioned in our best antivirus list. Comodo’s business customers and expertise lie elsewhere: they are jointly a certification authority and provide cybersecurity services to businesses.

Throughout my Comodo web security tests, I found dozens of red flags. the parts were not installed correctly. options like task manager don’t work. The UNIX system version may not be updated since 2013. The scan occurred even after the package was disabled, and lock my PC.

Most significantly, few independent security labs have evaluated its performance. this suggests that your device security will not be active until now, while the program works as your main anti-virus and anti-malware answer.

If you want to protect your computer from a wide variety of real-world threats, alternative options are also an improved option.

Is Comodo Antivirus Good for Windows 10?

Not really. While Comodo advertises Windows 10 compatibility, and I’ll make sure it works, at least to some degree, I can’t suggest it as a viable answer.

Is Comodo Antivirus Still Free?

Yes. Comodo offers everyone a free and paid version of its web security suite. while the free version has fewer options, it still contains the antivirus part.

Is Comodo Internet Security Any Good?

Yes. however, it has ceased to be the simplest or perhaps one of the simplest.
