FatCow Review 2022: Features, Pricing & More!

FatCow review, we bought it, we use it and it’s getting slower and slower…

FatCow, despite its whimsical name, is also one of the oldest in the industry.

It was originally a supported approach in 1998 before being made non-inheritable in 2004 by the ill-known EIG (which also owns HostGator, Bluehost, and many others).

They provide shared web hosting for small and medium businesses and individuals looking for reasonable hosting options. FatCow also claims that it sets itself apart from alternative hosts on the market with its less complicated and more customer-friendly approach.

Of course, we’re not just about to take their word for it without consideration.

We purchased FatCow’s shared hosting plan and thoroughly tested their duration, speed, customer service, and alternative options to find out how they rank against the other hosts we’ve reviewed.

Pros of Using FatCow Hosting

With a reputation like FatCow, we didn’t know what to expect.

The good news first?

They have performed commendably in a variety of important classes during our review method.

Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights.

1. Medium-term 99.96%

In our experience, several of the EIG brands consistently fail to deliver a reasonable amount of time. Therefore, we were interested to see what FatCow surprises the United States of America with.

FatCow delivered an average time frame of 99.96% during our last 12-month trial period. The result is nothing amazing, but it will work in normal business.

For the previous 12 months, the average uptime was:

  • December 2021: 100%
  • November 2021: 99.99%
  • October 2021: 100%
  • September 2021: 100%
  • August 2021: 100%
  • July 2021: 99.98%
  • June 2021: 100%
  • May 2021: 99.97%
  • April 2021: 99.81%
  • March 2021: 99.92%
  • February 2021: 99.79%
  • January 2021: 99.98%

2. Just Good customer support

Our personal experience with the FatCow support team was wonderful. Their support employees arrived in the United States of America in a couple of minutes, with prompt responses.

Fatcow Support

In addition to measuring chat support, FatCow also offers phone support and an in-depth user knowledge base.

Using the content, users will notice answers to their questions about their account, domains, email, files, partnership programs, policies, security, and more.

Plus, you can search for a keyword or phrase that relates to your question instead of filtering through scheduled classes.

This is Associate in Nursing’s amazing customer service feature for users who prefer help over live chat. The content is also a backup methodology for support if the live chat is offline.

3. Free icons and network name

Need some web icons to spice up the overall style of your site? FatCow has you covered.

Does the company offer 3,926 professionally designed “farm fresh network icons”. the most effective part? They are all completely free!

Note that there is a hint of a catch if you review the Terms of Use for these network icons.

For example, if you are embedding these network icons on your website, you will be required to certify that you have just linked to the following Universal Resource Locator in your credits: https://www.fatcow.com/free-icons

Also, don’t worry if you’re just starting out, because FatCow is launching a free call for new account registrations (first year only).

4. 30 days money-back guarantee

FatCow does not offer a free trial, but they do embed a typical 30-day money-back guarantee on all hosting plans. So in case you are not satisfied with their services, you will get a full refund.

However, the refund does not cover ancillary services, as well as domains. you would have to be forced to pay a $15 fee if you want to keep your name.

The 30-day money-back guarantee is only valid for MasterCard payments.

5. Green network host

Supposedly, FatCow’s knowledge center and office area unit are fully equipped with wind power. almost as inexperienced as GreenGeeks, however, still commendable.

However, they appear to be Nursing Associates, an independent and inexperienced agency, Power Partner, so their claims seem quite legitimate.

The company buys Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). RECs that buy by the unit area is used to generate wind power to negate their regular workplace energy use.

In fact, they buy twice the number they wear. FatCow claims to prevent the discharge of 999 metric tons of carbonic acid gas into the atmosphere once a year.

According to the independent agency, this can be equivalent to:

  • Remove 216 passenger vehicles from the road for one year
  • Driving 2,478,908 miles
  • 340 lots of recycled waste instead of being dumped in low-lying land
  • 48.5 garbage trucks value of waste recycled instead of waste in landfills

…and the list goes on.

If you’re interested in reducing your carbon footprint and trying to find a socially conscious company to host your website, FatCow could be a serious contender.

Cons of Using FatCow Hosting

FatCow has quite a few perks to it, but sadly, it’s not all sunshine and roses.

There are many negative aspects that we should always review before making a final judgment.

Here area unit of a number of the most important issues.

1. FatCow is slow

If speed were an essential component of your business, you’d probably work harder to rigorously choose a word that doesn’t have the negative connotation of a huge, slow animal.

FatCow, sadly for everyone, definitely lives up to its name (I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised).

Over the last twelve months, FatCow had an average page load time of 1,200 ms. In addition, they have been stepping by step slower throughout the year.

Considering that website speed accounts for a huge part of both search rankings and conversions, slow page load times are a huge drawback for any business website.

Case in point: half of your traffic can bounce if pages don’t load within 2 seconds.

2. Backups are not Free

Minor website issues or problems tend to crop up from time to time as you act to create updates or changes to the website. That’s why various network hosts can provide backup to help protect their users.

FatCow offers them, however, they will cost you an additional $2.13/month. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that this update includes daily backups (so the extra price may be worth it in this case).

3. Too Many Upsells

Speaking of extra charges…

This is what the sign language for FatCow looks like.

Get ready for the onslaught of annoying upsells that start immediately when you enter your master card variety.

Many may find this irritating and unpleasant.

4. More prices for additional values

FatCow offers some amazing security measures like SiteLock which can protect your website against many cyber attacks, malware, and more.

The extra security is simply what you need to make sure your website doesn’t get blacklisted.

There’s only one trap… and it’s huge. you have to be willing to acquire it.

Full protection (including daily malware and vulnerability scans, automatic malware removal, an online application firewall, and more) costs the maximum amount of $24.99 per month.

FatCow Review 2022: Features, Pricing & More!

Many alternative competitors offer identical varieties of security measures at no additional charge.

5. High Renovation Costs

Even though FatCow‘s initial signup pricing is fairly low cost ($4.08/month), renewal fees will be three times higher (starting at $8.99/month with a 36-month plan).

Prices can become even more expensive if you opt for shorter periods.

This is certainly something to look for, especially if you’re on a decent budget.

6. Custom dashboard

FatCow uses its own custom dashboard instead of the popular cPanel. Now, this does not immediately mean that it is unhealthy. It still serves its purpose and you will be able to do all the things required for website hosting from there.

However, it’s a bit more confusing than cPanel and takes time to get used to (especially if you’re a hosting newbie).

FatCow Review 2022: Features, Pricing & More!

From your dashboard and under “Advanced Tools,” you can access domains, view disk usage information, traveler statistics, and more.

Overall, FatCow’s dashboard isn’t too overwhelming, but you can use some enhancements (like a navigation bar) to make it easier.

7. Website Migration is not free

Many hosts provide free website migrations with their shared hosting plans, however, sadly that is not the factor with FatCow.

In case you already have a nursing associate website and want to transfer it to the FatCow server, you will need to pay $150 per website.

You can also transfer your website manually using FTP.

Do We Recommend FatCow Hosting?

Not really.

The FatCow valuation is comparatively low cost, however, the area unit approach to renewal rates is too high. they need to improve their timeframe over the past year that’s good, customer support is nice and they also offer several helpful options.

They even have a fun and whimsical name. Ironically, it’s a bit too correct. In general, they are just a little too average for the United States of America.

Your page speed is too slow and there are too many upsells or additional fees (eg backups, website migrations, etc.).
