HostMetro review result: Average. This is why.
HostMetro recently received support in 2012 to specialize in providing only shared hosting.
They’re also one of the only internet hosts with a “guaranteed value lock,” so your rating doesn’t jump 2 cents when it’s time to renew.
Plus, they have a 99.9% time frame to offer an honest variety of deals for budget-conscious customers.
But are all those claims too clever to be true?
We built a basic WordPress website on HostMetro Mega goop setup AND have monitored and analyzed its performance over an extended amount of your time, compiling the most important results as well as time period and speed in order to bring you this unbiased review.
Let us begin.

Pros of Using HostMetro
HostMetro has quite a few advantages for them. We particularly like their value lock guarantee and enhanced time period.
But what else do they offer?
Let’s have a more elaborate look.
1. Average uptime of 99.94%
HostMetro delivered an average time period of ninety-nine, 94% in the last twelve months. this is usually a strong result, especially compared to previous years when they always showed below average results (for example, not seeing you later after they delivered a 99.81% time frame). In total, they had four months once they delivered a lower-than-average time frame (May, August, October, and December 2021).
For the previous 12 months, the average uptime was:
- December 2021: 99.91%
- November 2021: 99.95%
- October 2021: 99.89%
- September 2021: 99.98%
- August 2021: 99.89%
- July 2021: 99.95%
- June 2021: 99.95%
- May 2021: 99.87%
- April 2021: 99.97%
- March 2021: 99.99%
- February 2021: 99.98%
- January 2021: 99.95%
2. Good customer service
HostMetro offers 24/7 live chat, email support, cognitive content, and also phone support (available Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM CST).
We tried their live chat and our experience with HostMetro customer support started virtually. Your agent was quick to connect and answered all of our inquiries in a very timely manner.
However, one issue to be aware of is that before you start your chat, you may need to provide them with some personal details (name, email address, primary domain name), so check that you’re ok with that.
3. Value lock guarantee
Most hosts lure you in with a ridiculously low rate the first time you log in with them. Once your setup is done and it’s time to renew, that low rate is gone and its value will double or maybe triple seemingly overnight.
HostMetro’s greenbacks follow that trend, guaranteeing your initial signup rate, even for future renewals.
It’s an incredible deal, providing a huge value advantage if you intend to stand out with them for long.
For the best month-to-month hosting, use Dreamhost.
4. Free website transfer (with limitations)
HostMetro can happily migrate your existing website to their servers at no cost.
However, there is a catch.
You can transfer your website as long as it does not exceed three GB.
And website migration must be requested within thirty days of creating AN account.
What happens if your website does not meet the guidelines?
Well, then you’ll have the option to travel with HostMetro’s premium website transfer. however, it will cost you a one-time fee of $29.99 (also non-refundable).
5. 99% period warranty
The Terms of Service page for many hosts is where optimism goes to die.
What initially seemed like such a decent deal quickly begins to turn into a nightmare as you navigate one questionable policy after another.
However, now and therefore you come across something positive that restores your religion in some companies.
Buried within HostMetro’s Terms is their Time Period Guarantee policy.
If your annual average drops below 99, you’ll get a free month of hosting credited to your account. Even assuming this mark is below the typical time frame we’ve seen on alternative hosts, it’s still a decent policy that shows they stand behind their service.
Some normal exceptions also apply, although they are quite common. If events of natural events such as a natural disaster or a big stunt arise, this period will not be taken into account in the average calculation of the time period.
6. 30 Day Money-Back Guarantee
If you feel sad at any time during your first 30 days as a new HostMetro customer, you can get a full refund. In general, that’s a good problem.
Just keep in mind that there are a few issues that will affect the amount of your refund.
First of all, refunds only apply to hosting plans. so that means alternative add-ons like backup services or domain names are non-refundable.
The good news regarding domain names is that if you got one, you can take it to another host.
However, if you got a free one through HostMetro, then the traditional price may be reduced from your refund balance. they will also calculate the price of free SSL certificates. Check that to ensure your setup once you get these “free” extras because they can practically cost you once it’s time to get a refund.
7. Unlimited options included with your most profitable setup
HostMetro offers many unlimited options even with its most profitable setup.
For example, you will get an infinite number of websites, email, and FTP accounts. Their data and storage measure have a maximum hosting space quota, however, according to HostMetro, ninety-five of their users can never reach this limit. in case you reach the quota, you should contact their customer support and they can increase it free of charge (if it is within their terms).
Considering how many alternative hosts on the market prefer to limit their most profitable plans, we’re glad HostMetro doesn’t try this.
8. User-friendly dashboard and dashboard
HostMetro’s backend shouldn’t be a hassle to navigate. It is also quite common among alternative hosts on the market. From there you will be able to access your domains, billing, services, and more. On the more page, you can also see usage statistics. On the left side of the buyer space, under “Actions” is the control panel login.
HostMetro uses the old cPanel as the print panel. It is easy to use and you will be able to do everything you need for website hosting from there without any problem. There is also a query bar attached to make things even clearer.
Cons of Using HostMetro
HostMetro has quite a few things to love, however, sadly, there are a few drawbacks that come along with their services.
Let’s start with a slow interval.
1. Speed too medium
Over the last twelve months, HostMetro managed to post page load times of 845ms.
That makes HostMetro three times slower than our fastest A2 Hosting.
Considering that a single-second delay can result in seven fewer conversions, HostMetro may cost you more in lost sales than actually paying for their service.
The good news is that there has been a small improvement in their speed data, however, they are still a bit too average and unstable to earn an area in our executive section.
2. Backups don’t seem to be free
Backups are a vital feature because problems can arise from time to time. Most hosts offer them in some way, either for free or for a fee.
HostMetro‘s Terms say they provide “free courtesy backup services.”
Sounds impressive, right? Having regular backups will prevent a lot of hassle if your website gets hacked.
But there are 3 big problems with this statement:
- This backup service only runs once a month (ideally you should have a daily or weekly backup at a minimum).
- They will only back up one GB in size. That’s not too big, to be honest, so this will most likely happen at some point.
- And worst of all, reviving the backup, will cost you $39.95.
If you want to secure your sites on a weekly basis, then you will need to pay $19.95 per year. However, if you log in with your Super goop configured, anytime (weekly) free backups are already included in the package.
3. Hosting only shared
HostMetro only offers 2 shared hosting plans. There are no VPS, cloud, or dedicated hosting options available.
That will make you powerful at scaling your existing infrastructure if you get through things quickly, forcing you to move to another web hosting company in the near future if you make it through.
4. Restrictive free domain offer
They offer a free name once language communication is activated, but as long as you use their “free domain” coupon code.
Domain name renewals (or getting more) can cost you an additional $14.49, which is more expensive than several alternative big-name registrars.
5. More expensive short-term plans
There is no configuration that lasts less than a year. And even that annual possibility can cost $4.95/month. You may also have ONE option to select a biennial install valued at $3.95/mo.

Do We Recommend HostMetro?
Yes and no.
HostMetro‘s customer service is good.
Also, their ‘price lock guarantee’ is great. they are available with many unlimited practical options and have a solid average time frame in the industry.
As a drawback, HostMetro comes with a slow loading time. Considering the influences of website speed, not only user experience but also your computer rankings and conversions on your website, there is a huge risk to your bottom line (read: revenue) here.
Honestly, there is plenty of internet hosts out there that can give you much better page load times, an additional stable period of time, and a stronger feature pack for consistent money (or less).
