Psiphon can be a free VPN that sells your data to third parties. It is servers in 17 countries and does not support Netflix or P2P torrents. It gets a 2-star rating⭐⭐. Article: Psiphon VPN Review – 2021
Is Psiphon a VPN? Yes! Psiphon may be a free anti-censorship service/tool with the motto “Beyond Borders”.
Psiphon is completely free and has servers in 17 countries. But this is not the VPN to protect your privacy and security online.
Let’s go through the Psiphon review in detail.
If you probably didn’t find this VPN to your liking, we have other covers for you in our exclusive VPN review guide.
How Do We Rate
Below, you will find an inventory of things that I even have the habit of reviewing Psiphon VPN:
- Pricing: what proportion does Psiphon VPN cost?
- Security: protocols and encryption
- Jurisdiction: Do you live in a country of five eyes?
- Psiphon VPN’s speed: How fast is it?
- Is streaming compatible with Netflix?
- If you have any IP, DNS, or WebRTC leaks?
- Records and customer service are examples of reliability.
- Apps and computers that are compliant
Pricings – How much do it cost?
Psiphon is a fully free application. There are no fees associated with using the app. The question is whether or not this free censorship mechanism is worthwhile.
For that, I will be able to see some functions of Psiphon VPN.
Psiphon only requires a simple three-step installation process, after which subscribers can use all the features of the Psiphon VPN service.

Security: protocols and encryption
Psiphon has a mediocre level of encryption. Your second question should be does Psiphon hide IP addresses? Should your main concern be that Psiphon VPN is safe to use?
Being a free tool, Psiphon VPN offers the following three tunneling protocols to ensure an honest and reliable connection:
- SSH (Secure Shell Protocol)
- SSH + (a random layer on top of the SSH protocol to cover the fingerprint protocol)
- L2TP / IPSec (a secure protocol used by various VPN services)
Note: Although Psiphon VPN offers the L2TP / IPSec protocol which is known for its military-grade protection, at an equivalent time, it does not recommend using it to bypass various firewalls.
Jurisdiction–Do you live in a country of five eyes?
Psiphon is based in Toronto, Canada. a rustic who falls under the eyes of 5 nations that spy on their own citizen.
There is nothing hidden from the authorities of these countries. Although a corporation is committed to protecting users’ information, a subpoena or court order from the authorities will leave them no chance.
Therefore, a VPN company that falls under this radar is generally not recommended.
Psiphon VPN now has servers in 17 countries. The United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, as well as the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Austria, Denmark, France, Hungary, India, and Italy, are among these countries.
However, the company has not disclosed the exact number of its servers, but we conducted server tests and a performance evaluation of the Psiphon VPN servers for our review.
Speed – How fast is it?
Psiphon servers are too slow. The tests were done on a 33 Mbps internet connection. Once it was automatically connected to your fastest server, ie Canada, my internet dropped to 6.21 Mbps.
Here are the test results:
Streaming – Does it work with Netflix?
Unfortunately, Netflix did not bypass and therefore the following error was requested.
Psiphon is no exception.
When watching live TV shows on Kodi, Psiphon VPN also helps bypass geo-restrictions.
If It have any IP, DNS, or WebRTC leaks
During our Psiphon VPN review, I didn’t find any IP, DNS, or WebRTC leaks. I tested leaks on your Argentina server.
Here are the test results:
In this Psiphon Pro review, I checked if there were any viruses in your Windows client. I didn’t find any viruses on your client, which may be a good indication.
Here is the test result:
Reliability: records and customer service
Psiphon VPN does not store any usage logs. Since Psiphon VPN may be a free service, it collects some connection logs.
Here may be a list of the insights they collect:
- City and country
- ISP connection
- Original IP address and Psiphon IP address
- How long the device was connected
- Type of device.
Tracking your IP address is, in fact, critical information. However, they eliminate consciousness within 60 days.
“The most sensitive field of information to us is user experience info. We never, ever post this information User activity data is held for up to 60 days, after which it is added and deleted. “
They share aggregated data with organizations with which they collaborate and researchers from civil society.
Psiphon has poor customer support. You will only contact them by email. There is also an FAQ section where you will find some answers to the most important question, but hardly any help with technical problems.
Before downloading, subscribers should note that Psiphon is liberal to use and that its support channels should not be compared to those of premium online security tools.
Compatibility: compatible apps & devices
Psiphon VPN works on a huge platform of devices, as described below.
- Direct download from Windows, no client required.
- Android direct download
- Pro for Android within the Google Play Store
- iOS within the Apple App Store
- Browser for iOS within the Apple App Store
Once installed on a system, the program offers a one-touch connection function. Additionally, a smooth interface and one-click drop-down server selection make Psiphon VPN a preferred solution for unblocking sites.
Interestingly, the Psiphon VPN app is often sent via email and other sharing methods, as no installation procedure is required.
In this way, in our Psiphon review, we concluded that the device is a one-click accessibility solution.
The elegant two-tone design with a vertical connection option makes the app easy to use and understand. Additionally, a fan statistics tab gives you usage details for sent/received data.

Do We Recommend Psiphon VPN?
Absolutely not. I don’t recommend Psiphon VPN in the least.
Psiphon may be a free VPN, but many offer good service and speed. Psiphon’s servers are not anywhere near fast.
Psiphon is not an honest choice for users who want to protect their privacy online because it clearly mentions that it will sell user data (aggregated data) to business partners or sponsors.
It may be a free VPN, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use it.
