SaferVPN Pros

Great Download Speeds

SaferVPN is fast …

To prove my point, here are my results without SaferVPN:

speed test without VPN
Article: SaferVPN Review in 2021

While using SaferVPN, I managed to get a powerful 79.23 Mbps on an EU server, making SaferVPN the 5th fastest VPN (out of 70+) ever reviewed on this site.

  • Ping: 120ms
  • Download: 57.47 Mbps
  • Upload: 23.09 Mbps

  • Ping: 43ms
  • Download: 79.23 Mbps
  • Upload: 27.78 Mbps

Asia Server (Hong Kong)

  • Upload: 0.37 Mbps

UK Server (London)

  • Ping: 46ms
  • Download: 64.38 Mbps
  • Upload: 39.40 Mbps
  • * As always, take these speed tests with a grain of salt as they consider numerous different variables and can change from person to person.
  • However, we have tested over 70 VPNs for this site, so we have a baseline that we will compare all VPNs against. *

Now that you’ve seen their speeds, most are holding their noses and waiting for the cold water …

After all, with such fast download speeds. There is no way SaferVPN can offer its services at an affordable price, right?

Seamless Installation and Use

Call me petty. But I absolutely hate VPN providers that force users to restart their devices after installing the VPN client.

Fortunately, SaferVPN is not only “Free Restart”. But it is also one of the only and easiest to use VPNs that I have reviewed.

About 3 minutes after I purchased their services, SaferVPN installed, started, and protected my Windows device.

With one of the simplest user interfaces I have come across, SaferVPN makes it easy to use their service and will protect your device with the push of a button.

They also make it easy to quickly find and optimize your settings and make sure you have the right connection for your specific goals.

Although SaferVPN won’t be the top feature-rich provider I’ve reviewed, its intuitive design and easy-to-navigate interface make using their software an absolute pleasure.

Effective Customer Service (But using BOTS?)

While it doesn’t depend on the quality of a corporation like ExpressVPN, SaferVPN’s customer support definitely exceeded my expectations.

Throughout this review, I have submitted a couple of inquiries at different times, some of them genuine and some of them designed to gauge the effectiveness of the support team.

Each time, I received a quick response to my question and was on my way for a few minutes.

Here’s one of those encounters I had while trying to figure out if there was something better thanks to using SaferVPN to download torrents (which we’ll mention in the “Cons” section).

SaferVPN support
Torrenting only in Netherlands
Article: SaferVPN Review in 2021

This whole conversation happened in about 90 seconds and is very indicative of my overall customer service experience.

Your team isn’t the most knowledgeable support team I’ve ever seen, but they got the job done and got it done in minutes.

However, I should say that at various points throughout this SaferVPN review, it seemed like they were using automated software to answer my customer support inquiries.

While I cannot verify this theory, I believe that SaferVPN uses robots to answer some of the more common queries that are sent through its chat feature, and if you review the correspondence above, you will understand why.

The question I submitted did not require a customer email address for any reason and (considering the fact that they probably get this question 100 times a day) my support agent should be ready to answer me right away.

Instead, they used to ask me to provide my email address (less than a second after submitting my question) for no apparent reason that would make me wish I was a robot and not a real agent.

This trend was repeated in several other supporting questions, and while it was a minor annoyance, I felt it was worth mentioning. Considering the overall quality of their customer support, and thus the overall friendliness of their team, I need to applaud SaferVPN for their customer service … bots or not bots.

Kill Switch and 5 Simultaneous Connections

As I already mentioned, SaferVPN doesn’t offer a feature-rich service.

And honestly, I’m quite glad they don’t.

After using their VPN for a while, it is clear to me that they focused most of their resources on optimizing their servers, creating an efficient support team, and offering their services at a reasonable price.

SaferVPN does a couple of things very well, while most of its competitors do a lot in an acceptable way.

While many users might be disappointed by the apparent lack of bells and whistles, I think SaferVPN offers all the features that really matter, including a kill switch * and a generous 5-device simultaneous connection limit.

Both of these features are welcome additions to already stellar service and I am pleased to report that (unlike many of its competitors) SaferVPN’s security interrupt feature works exactly as advertised.

  • * Kill Switch can be a feature that instantly disconnects you once you lose your internet connections. This prevents your IP from being leaked.

Jurisdiction = Israel

Based in Tel Aviv, Israel, SaferVPN’s mere location can make it seem like they’ve lost the sport before they even set foot in the sector.

After all, Israel has become an increasingly tumultuous and politically charged region, leaving many VPN buyers hesitant to entrust their privacy to a corporation located amid the confusion.

I’ll be the first to admit that once I originally found out about their location, I was also quite nervous about using their services.

However, after doing some research, I found out that Israel might be one of the simplest jurisdictions for a VPN thanks to its privacy laws that severely limit the government’s (legal) ability to track and monitor ordinary citizens.

Although it is not ideal for a VPN provider to be based in a country so deeply rooted in the “Five Eyes” information sharing association, you can rest easy knowing that the law and SaferVPN’s privacy policy (more on this later ) are current. your side.

Works with Netflix (at least some servers)

When I tried to connect to Netflix, SaferVPN seemed to work.

Obviously, not all servers were up, maybe 30%, as Netflix is actively trying to crack down on VPN providers and block their IPs to respect their geo-restrictions.

Here’s a quick summary:

  • The “US streaming” server option worked great on my behalf – quick and easy
  • The US East server did not connect with Netflix in the slightest
  • Netflix blocked the Canadian server
  • Dutch server worked fine
  • Netflix blocked the UK server

SaferVPN Cons

Although SaferVPN has a lot of great things going for it, its services are not perfect and they are not for everyone. So before you break the “Buy Now” button, let’s take a quick look at a number of “Cons” of using SaferVPN services.

Torrenting is VERY Limited

Personally, this was my biggest point of discussion with SaferVPN services.

Considering that they need such a large collection of servers, you’d imagine they could have spent time optimizing at least a couple of these servers for P2P transfers and torrenting.

However, SaferVPN only has one server out of its collection of 700 that works for these purposes. (Your server in Holland if you are wondering).

If you intend to use their services solely to download torrents, forget it. There are many better VPNs available for torrenting (here are the 7 best ones).

This particular “scam” is far from a deal-breaker, but it is an issue that I would like the company to take more seriously.

The “No Logging” Policy Could Be More Strict

One thing that always bothers me about VPN companies is how deceptive their logging policies tend to be.

In fact, if you examine their privacy policies, it is not uncommon to find companies that post a “Zero Logs” policy while logging a metric ton of knowledge at the same time.

Although SaferVPN doesn’t fall into that category, they are crawling a bit too much data for my liking.

Here may be a summary of your registration policy as set out by your privacy policy.

SaferVPN privacy policy
Article: SaferVPN Review in 2021

As you will see, this is not exactly the “Zero Logs” policy that we were promised. Although far from ideal, I didn’t find SaferVPN’s logging policy to be particularly concerning.

Would I more like to use a VPN that doesn’t record my information? and how.

Does SaferVPN’s registration policy prevent me from using their services? No way.

SaferVPN Doesn’t Work in China

If I ask you to consider the main country where you have to use a VPN, what does the mind imply?

China, right?

Considering its draconian rule and oppressive censorship laws, China is one of those countries that you simply shouldn’t visit without a fully functional VPN.

Unfortunately, according to many third-party sources, SaferVPN apps will not work while on Chinese soil.

And this is usually a huge problem for companies.

Expats and travelers around the globe believe that high-quality VPN providers (like SaferVPN) unblock content and stay safe, and thus the incontrovertible fact that their services don’t aggregate region can be a huge boon. blow to your potential customer base.

If you are not going to travel to China anytime soon, you will ignore it now, buy SaferVPN, and go on your happy path.

Otherwise, you will have to buy a more premium service like ExpressVPN (read the review here).

(Note that this is often not something you can test directly, as I haven’t even visited China in the last few months. If you have a special experience using SaferVPN within the so-called People’s Republic, let me know in the comments below.)

SaferVPN Pricing, Plans & Features

I was surprised to find that their services are literally marketed at an incredibly affordable and inexpensive price.

I like it, but $ 3 a month affordable …

However, you can pay 2 or 3 years in advance.

All of their packages offer equivalent features and services and therefore the only difference between them is how long you can actually use their service.

SaferVPN pricing
Article: SaferVPN Review in 2021

This is how it all falls apart.

1 Year: $59.88

2 Years: $71.77

Three Years: $82.26

Some of you may recall that the last time I checked SaferVPN they offered a 14-day money-back guarantee and a 24-hour free trial.

However, they need to improve their money-back guarantee and extend the return window from 14 to 30 days.

After reviewing their privacy policy and ToS, I am pleased to report that SaferVPN, unlike many of its competitors, also does not have a surprise “catch” or warnings in its 30-day policy. Regardless of the percentage of connections you initiate or the percentage of GB of knowledge you download, you will request a full refund for your purchase as long as you do so within 30 days.

SaferVPN also allows its users to pay with MasterCard, PayPal, Bitcoin (anonymous payment), or Paymentwall, which means that if privacy is an issue, your entire purchase is often made in complete anonymity.

Do We Recommend SaferVPN?

Not really, but they’re not an unpleasant option per se …

Of the 70+ VPNs reviewed on this site, SaferVPN currently ranks 41st overall and 5th for speed, but a number of downsides make them not recommended.

They offer fast (and stable) speeds, a seamless interface, and good customer service, all at an honest price.

While their services are definitely not problem-free and I hope the company improves their torrenting capabilities and logging policy, my experience with SaferVPN was satisfactory.

However, you would be happier if you used other VPN providers that we recommend here. NordVPN, for example, has similar features while also being more torrent-friendly.
