SiteGround vs GreenGeeks Comparison for 2022 – 1 Winner!

SiteGround vs GreenGeeks is one of the biggest names in WordPress hosting, but my most recent tests have given the US state reason to question its name. GreenGeeks hasn’t been around that long, however, it would just have what it takes to challenge the Associate in Nursing trade like SiteGround.

SiteGround might be a favorite among web designers due to its efficient dashboard and agency-oriented options, however, GreenGeeks‘ excellent customer service and higher performance make it a stronger overall candidate. Additionally, GreenGeeks is an eco-conscious service from Associate in Nursing, suggesting that your website can reduce carbon emissions once hosted on their servers.

I compared SiteGround and GreenGeeks compatible with five completely different aspects of their web hosting service: evaluation, features, performance, security, and support. GreenGeeks is the overall winner because it makes progress in most areas, however, SiteGround might be a better option in limited use cases.

1. Plans and Pricing

The Grass Is Greener on Greengeeks’ Side (Because It’s Cheaper!)

Regardless of the type of hosting you want (shared, WordPress, cloud, or VPS), GreenGeeks hosting plans are cheaper than SiteGround.

It’s worth noting that both hosts offer managed WordPress plans for a similar price as their shared hosting plans, which is good news for WordPress users.

A free domain is attached once you get any GreenGeeks hosting service

GreenGeeks‘ lowest-cost shared setup is Fat-Free, while SiteGround’s entry-level alternative is Startup. During the initial period, SiteGround is more than twice as expensive as GreenGeeks. The gap closes a bit on renewals, but SiteGround can still cost you about five hundred percent more.

You would assume that better value comes with additional features and options, however, this is not the case. Both services allow you to host just one website, but GreenGeeks gives you unlimited space to store and transfer information, while SiteGround limits you to ten GB and about 10,000 visits per month.

For managed VPS options, GreenGeeks is likewise less expensive. 4 vCPUs, 50GB of SSD storage, 10TB of transfer, and 2GB of RAM are included in the least priced configuration. On the other hand, SiteGround’s entry-level cloud installation costs twice as much as GreenGeeks and only includes three virtual CPUs, 40GB of SSD storage, 5TB of transfer, and 6GB of RAM. Even though it is a cloud-based system, it is not worthwhile.

Fortunately, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee offered by both GreenGeeks and SiteGround. The sole exclusion is that you will never be entitled to a refund for extra services.

2. Features

The Grass Is Greener on Greengeeks’ Side (Because It’s Cheaper!)

If your priority is the Associate in Nursing green network host, look no further than GreenGeeks. It offers a mix of 300 renewable energy, which means it puts back 3 times the amount of energy your servers use back into the power grid. Now, that’s a real long-term commitment.

Another advantage with GreenGeeks is that you only get a free name if you buy a year or more of hosting. Add this to the fact that GreenGeeks is cheaper across the board, and you’ll save quite a bit.

As for the control board, GreenGeeks uses the proven cPanel and the Softaculous jazz band. SiteGround hosting plans include a proprietary panel (Site Tools), which is more efficient and better optimized for beginners, but it lacks some necessary features, such as website staging and advanced caching, if you are in the Start settings. These are included by default with cPanel on all GreenGeeks plans.

One advantage of SiteGround is its developer tools. It will effortlessly produce and ship sites to buyers, and even offer white-label hosting as a reseller. However, these options are prohibited behind the premium plans.

If you want to transfer a website from another host, both SiteGround and GreenGeeks include free managed migrations. this is usually a good feature if you are not a complicated user since you will probably encounter dozens of problems during the transfer.

I have saved the most effective ones for last. Both companies provide daily backups and automatic updates for WordPress for free. this may technically be a part of managed WordPress hosting, which most other web hosts can make you buy.

3. Performance

Greengeeks Is Faster Than Siteground

I have tested each service for many months and I will tell you right away that GreenGeeks can provide, on average, higher performance than SiteGround. Let’s see why.

The main distinction between the 2 hosts is in their network server infrastructure. GreenGeeks runs on LiteSpeed, while SiteGround relies on a stack that combines classic Apache and thus the additional versatile NGINX. although both are viable, the GreenGeeks resolution is cheaper to handle requests.

That said, SiteGround will have additional knowledge center locations. Both hosts provide users with a choice of North Yankee and European servers, but SiteGround also offers two locations in the Asia-Pacific region.

Both SiteGround and GreenGeeks provide SSD storage, which greatly improves the delivery of your website content compared to HDD servers. There is also a free CDN built into the dashboard, which you can activate as soon as your website is live.

To compare the performance of SiteGround and GreenGeeks, I signed up for their entry-level shared hosting plans and hosted an identical website on each platform. This is what happened.

On GTmetrix, SiteGround’s fastest time was 1.4 seconds, while its slowest was 2.5. the average arrived in just over a couple of seconds, making SiteGround one of the slowest web hosts I’ve ever tested.

By contrast, GreenGeeks’ results were much better. Its fastest total load time was zero.8 seconds, the slowest was a couple of.4, and thus the average was one.7. You’ll see the full results of our tests in our detailed GreenGeeks review.

To get some additional perspective, I tried exploiting 2 Sucuri network hosts. In North America, GreenGeeks was as fast as GTmetrix for sure. However, things took a turn for {worse|more serious|more serious} in some of the more distant regions. for example, visitors from an Asian country or Singapore would have to wait many seconds for the website to load completely.

SiteGround beat GreenGeeks on Sucuri. Due to its data centers in Asia-Pacific, SiteGround would be a much better option if its main audience is in this region, while GreenGeeks performs better in the rest of the world.

Uptime was good with GreenGeeks and SiteGround; each went to the other side of their 99.9% promise. However, the UptimeRobot results did show some variation in response times from GreenGeeks servers.

Except for a 4-minute time period, which was probably maintenance-related, SiteGround achieved a good record of continuous service over 3 months.

Overall, GreenGeeks was faster than SiteGround. this is one of SiteGround’s biggest drawbacks. Extensive tests that we regularly run on SiteGround (and various customer complaints) show that their servers are slow, which is unsatisfactory given their premium rating. at least the provider acknowledges the issue and is working to find a solution.

4. Security

Greengeeks Is Secure, but Siteground Has a Slight Edge

Both SiteGround and GreenGeeks have good basic security.

Both offer you a free SSL certificate from Let’s enroll, regardless of the configuration you choose. Additionally, customer accounts are isolated from one another and take advantage of container-based technology, which means your website won’t be affected if one of your neighboring servers falls prey to malware.

GreenGeeks and SiteGround proactively monitor your infrastructure and run regular security scans on top of that. this can be a good defense against DDoS attacks, which can render a group of servers unusable for several days.

The list does not end there. Both network hosts offer you spam protection for your emails, as well as proactive updates and patches for crucial computer code like WordPress. the two hosts jointly run daily backups that you will consider in the event of a hardware failure.

SiteGround has a slight edge with its proprietary Network Application Firewall (WAF), which is cleverly named to protect against familiar vulnerabilities in applications like Drupal, Joomla, and WordPress.

5. Support

Siteground Has Decent Support, but Greengeeks’ Is Excellent

Support is where GreenGeeks extremely shines. Let’s take a better look.

Both SiteGround and GreenGeeks provide 24/7 support via live chat, phone, and tickets. With that said, SiteGround support can be problematic to succeed from time to time. You need to complete the annoying contact type first, and the average wait time (after starting a chat) was around half an hour.

However, after I finally gave some back to a SiteGround agent, they were helpful, polite, and skilled. I had problems with the associate degree SSL certificate and also the agent offered to put it on my behalf. That made the wait worth it.

Unlike SiteGround, there was almost no wait time with GreenGeeks support. I made a variety of queries that came to mind and to my surprise the agent took the time to answer every one of them.

But here’s the simple part: GreenGeeks went the extra mile for me as few alternative web hosts would. After I opened a quote to speed up my WordPress website optimization, the school tech took the lead and tweaked things on my behalf.

Both hosts have trusted databases that you will be able to intercommunicate with if you prefer to do it yourself. Most articles include step-by-step tutorials that guide you through the most common hosting-related tasks.

While SiteGround’s support isn’t dangerous (just a bit slow), GreenGeeks wins by being quick and proactive.

Siteground Is Good, but Greengeeks Is Better

With its green hosting, higher costs, and glorious support, GreenGeeks is the clear winner of this comparison. If you just need an easy website and you’re not that savvy in technical school, GreenGeeks’ beginner-friendly hosting plans and top-of-the-line support approach can save you a lot of trouble.

This does not mean that SiteGround is dangerous as it is removed. the two-host area unit is pretty much the same in terms of options, and SiteGround’s hosting plans stay coupled with slightly higher security.

Although slower than GreenGeeks, SiteGround holds a great future for developers and people who need a solid answer in the cloud. After all, both hosts added it to our list of the best web hosting services, so you can’t go wrong with either.

Here area unit most of the conclusions of my SiteGround vs GreenGeeks comparison:

If you want to use WordPress to create a partner business website, I wholeheartedly recommend a managed cloud company like Kinsta. no matter your wishes, it will offer.

If you want to learn more about how we can do that, you can check out everything related here.

4. Does SiteGround provide cPanel?

Not anymore. SiteGround used to provide cPanel, but once cPanel increased its costs, the online host came up with its proprietary resolution (Site Tools), which is more efficient and more beginner-friendly. The only dangerous factor regarding website tools is that it doesn’t have the huge one-click install library that normally comes with cPanel. This is not a serious concern for beginners, as style CMSs like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc. are there.
