SlickVPN Review: Quick Expert Summary
SlickVPN Review offers reasonable security, allows P2P traffic on all servers, and has fast speeds on native servers; however, it has some serious problems.
It only works with Netflix twenty-five times, it’s a small and low server network, it doesn’t have any mobile apps, and its split tunneling is terrible. Also, SlickVPN doesn’t work well in restrictive countries, it lacks extra security measures like RAM-only servers and excellent forward secrecy, and there’s no live chat.
Honestly, several VPNs are much better than SlickVPN, including ExpressVPN (which is our #1 pick for best VPN in 2023), Personal Web Access (which is a great affordable option), and ProtonVPN (which includes advanced VPN features). Privacy & Security).
SlickVPN allows five simultaneous connections with one account, has many payment plans, and backs all purchases with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

SlickVPN Full Review
I spent a few weeks testing SlickVPN to see how it compares to the best VPNs on the market. While I am not a fan of this VPN, it will have tight security.
SlickVPN has industry-standard security measures such as 256-bit AES encryption, a kill switch, and a no-logs policy. It includes comprehensive protection against IPv6, DNS, and WebRTC leaks, and offers a double VPN connection, which adds a layer of encryption to protect your data.
However, SlickVPN is not an honest VPN for streaming, its remote server area drive is very slow, and its apps are not user-friendly. In general, I wouldn’t suggest it, and I’m guessing there are much better area units available for VPNs.
SlickVPN has the following industry-standard security features:
- 256-bit AES Encryption – Protect your knowledge with military-grade encryption.
- No logs policy: It does not log your IP address or your browsing knowledge.
- Kill switch: disable your web access if the VPN association drops. It’s confusing to use within the app because it’s combined with the possibility of leak protection, but at least it works.
Slick-VPN has OpenVPN and IPSec – both protocols provide good security and reasonable speeds. However, I wish SlickVPN had WireGuard, which is also very secure but much faster than OpenVPN and IPSec (competitors like Private Web Access offer WireGuard).
I like that SlickVPN has comprehensive leak protection against IPv6, DNS, and WebRTC leaks. Some high VPNs (like VyprVPN) have you manually disable WebRTC and IPv6 to prevent leaks, which is inconvenient. I ran over 10 leak tests to create certain SlickVPN leak protection jobs and experienced no issues.
Slick-VPN also offers additional options, such as:
- Speed Test. SlickVPN helps you take a look at server speeds. The speed test correctly suggested the fastest server for my location but overstated the speeds. For example, SlickVPN’s speed test showed a transfer speed of 330 Mbps, but after testing the server with Ookla Speedtest (a well-respected third-party speed test), my speed was 140 Mbps. This can be frustrating. , because it means that you will overestimate your speeds and then you will be surprised why your downloads are slow. ExpressVPN includes a much more accurate speed test.
- Hydra. This feature provides a double VPN association: your traffic goes through two VPN servers instead of one and then goes out through a server in the Netherlands, so you always have a Dutch data processing address. You get a lot of security, however, I found my speeds to be four hundredths slower with Hydra compared to a daily Dutch server. I want there to be Hydra servers all over the world, so users outside of Europe can get faster speeds.
- Split tunnel. SlickVPN Split Tunneling helps you select whether or not you want to send your traffic through the VPN association or your network service provider’s network. However, it is useless because you cannot select those applications to split the tunnel. Most advanced VPNs like ExpressVPN and ProtonVPN allow you to select which apps use that association.
- CORE servers. SlickVPN claims that these servers provide faster speeds than regular servers. However, I did get equivalent speeds while connected to CORE servers in the US and Canada as I did on regular SlickVPN servers in those countries.
- IP configuration. SlickVPN helps you select an Associate in Nursing interval between five and 999 minutes to change your data processing address, making it difficult for someone to track your location. However, I tried it while connected to a VPN server in a European country and my data processing address never changed, probably because SlickVPN only has one server there.
Privacy & Security
There is the possibility of an Associate in Nursing in the application that allows association registrations, however, it is not enabled by default. SlickVPN ME representatives told me that this selection is only used for troubleshooting association issues and is rarely needed. If you are doing alternate work, the logs are only saved internally on your device, so SlickVPN does not have access to them.
SlickVPN is based in the United States, which is a component of the 5/9/14 Eyes Alliances (a group of states that share police investigation data). However, if the US authorities elevate SlickVPN to the user’s knowledge, it should not have any advantage.
In general, SlickVPN includes a no-logs policy that states that it does not store your online activities. However, I would like to see SlickVPN perform an independent Nursing Associate audit of this policy, like ExpressVPN.
Speed & Performance
We ran speed tests while connected to a server in each country where SlickVPN lists a server to see their average VPN speeds. I got the fastest speeds while connected to a local server in my country (Romania), but my speeds lagged noticeably while connected to remote servers within the United States.
I ran a speed test while not connected to the VPN to get a baseline of my net speeds:
SlickVPN does not have a quick connect feature that connects you to the fastest server for your location, so I manually connected to a local server (Romania). Here are my speeds:
Here are my speeds while connected to a server far away in the US:
When I connected to a local server, I endured an eighty-five-fold delay, but the sites and HD videos loaded instantly. 4K videos loaded in 1-5 seconds and only had minor buffering, and I had fast torrent download speeds (downloaded 13.5GB in 20 minutes). once I connected to distant servers my speeds dropped by ninety-six. Websites and HD videos took 5-10 seconds to load, I had to buffer while skipping HD videos, and it took half a dozen hours to transfer a 13.5GB torrent (I downloaded a similar download in a quarter of an hour). an hour with top VPNs like ExpressVPN and Personal Web Access).
In general, I endured critical slowdowns on remote servers, but high speeds on native servers
Servers & IP Addresses
Over 150 servers for SlickVPN are located in over 40 nations. Other top VPNs have plenty of larger networks: ExpressVPN has 3,000+ servers in 90+ countries, and CyberGhost VPN has 7,300+ servers in 90+ countries. Most of SlickVPN’s server area units are in Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia. If you are in South America, the Middle East, or Africa, you will have a hard time finding a nearby server and finding fast speeds.
You can download torrents on all of SlickVPN’s servers, but its small network means you may not find a local server to achieve fast transfer speeds. ExpressVPN and Personal Internet Access allow P2P traffic on all servers and have many larger server networks, so they are better for torrenting.
SlickVPN has more than 55 CORE servers in ten countries. They are supposed to be faster than traditional servers, but they are not. There is a Hydra server that establishes double VPN connections, providing additional security.
In general, SlickVPN features a small server network, and some users may have a hard time finding native servers. While all servers allow torrenting, other top VPNs provide P2P support on many larger networks.
Streaming & Torrenting
SlickVPN works with Netflix only sometimes and does not work with BBC iPlayer, Disney+, Amazon Prime, or Hulu. I could only access Netflix twenty-five a time, but I could access lesser-known streaming apps like VRV and Sony Crackle.
SlickVPN allows torrenting on all of its servers and works with popular torrent buyers like qBittorrent, uTorrent, and Vuze. Its transfer speed is a bit fast, but only on native servers; on remote servers, my downloads dropped by about ninety-seven.
In general, SlickVPN is not suitable for streaming and is only suitable for torrenting on native servers. Other VPNs, like ExpressVPN and CyberGhost VPN, will access all major streaming sites and have fast torrent download speeds on all servers.
Plans & Pricing
SlickVPN has many paid setups, which include similar features and support five simultaneous connections. Starting at $10.00/month, all SlickVPN plans are cheaper than ExpressVPN, but the monthly and yearly plans are more expensive than top VPNs like Personal Net Access, CyberGhost, and PrivateVPN.
SlickVPN accepts four forms of credit cards, PayPal, and Bitcoin. All Area Unit plans are backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Overall, SlickVPN offers versatile payment options and a 30-day money-back guarantee. But some of the best VPNs in 2023 offer a lot of value for money: better streaming capabilities, better P2P support, larger server networks, and faster speeds.
Ease of Use: Mobile & Desktop Apps
SlickVPN only has apps for Windows and macOS, and they are about as good as the best VPNs for Windows or the best VPNs for Macintosh. To use it on iOS and automata, you would like to use the third-party OpenVPN consumer or do manual configuration. Every shape area unit is inconvenient, and I don’t suggest them. If you’re trying to find a decent iOS VPN, take a look at our curated list here. For Automata VPN, click here.
The desktop app area unit is annoying to use. give the impression of being dated: the icons look recent, the text is small, and the style looks like something from the 2000s. Also, you don’t log into the SlickVPN consumer with the username and word it produces once the language is active. Instead, you must use the second set of credentials randomly generated by SlickVPN which will be found in the account control panel on the website.
There is no quick connect feature and most setup area units are confusing because they don’t have explanations. For example, I had no idea that data science and the possibility of DNS leak protection is also the off switch until Maine was told so by a support rep.
There’s also a digital map, but it’s not intuitive: you can’t move the map from left to right with your mouse. You can’t center it, and you can’t click a spot to attach it. Digital maps on ProtonVPN and TunnelBear are significantly superior.
Overall, I don’t like SlickVPN’s desktop apps: they’re clunky, unappealing, and confusing. Major VPNs like ExpressVPN, ProtonVPN, and TunnelBear have better apps that are much easier to use and are available on many platforms, including iOS and Android.
SlickVPN has good customer support platforms: there are area unit setup tutorials, support guides, and FAQs. There is no live chat, however, SlickVPN does have email support.
I like the SlickVPN tutorials – they need screenshots, sensitive data, and easy-to-navigate area units. Frequently asked questions contain helpful answers. However, the SlickVPN how-to guides are not very detailed and one of the links is broken. On the main page, there are three support tabs (Help and Support, FAQs, and Guides), which should be sorted under Support and Support.
In my tests, SlickVPN’s email support was responsive: On average, I received a response within 4-5 hours, which is pretty sensible. Support reps always provided Maine with helpful data.
In general, SlickVPN’s support section needs work, but their setup tutorials and FAQs are informative. While there is no live chat, email support is responsive and helpful.
Is SlickVPN Any Good in 2023?
SlickVPN offers practical security, torrenting on all servers, and fast speeds on native servers; however, there are several top VPNs available.
In addition to industry-standard security features like 256-bit AES write secret, a kill switch, and a no-logs policy, SlickVPN also offers complete protection against leaks and double VPN connections.
That said, SlickVPN doesn’t support streaming – it doesn’t always work with Netflix and can’t access other modern streaming apps. Different top VPNs like ExpressVPN and CyberGhost are ready to consistently access all major streaming platforms.
SlickVPN doesn’t have apps for mobile or iOS devices, and the desktop apps aren’t great. Also, the split tunneling feature is terrible, it lacks more security features, and there is no live chat.
If you’re trying to find a VPN that maintains fast speeds on all servers, accesses all major streaming platforms, and offers easy-to-use apps for all platforms, I’d like to recommend one of the best VPNs in 2023, like ExpressVPN or Personal Access. to network.
But if you’re interested in giving SlickVPN a try. It allows five synchronous connections with one account, has plenty of payment plans, and backs all purchases with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
SlickVPN — Frequently Asked Questions
Does SlickVPN work with Netflix?
Is SlickVPN good for torrenting?
SlickVPN is good for torrenting. All servers support P2P traffic, work with the most popular torrent buyers, and are a kill switch, full leak protection, and a no logs policy.
SlickVPN’s transfer speeds are fast on native servers but painfully slow on remote servers. Also, because the server network is small, it’s hard to find nearby servers to achieve smart speeds, and I wouldn’t say SlickVPN is as good of an alternative to the best torrenting VPNs.
My favorite VPNs for torrenting measure ExpressVPN and Private Web Access. Both have huge server networks, allow torrenting on all servers, maintain instant transfer speeds on native and remote servers, and are very easy to use.
Is SlickVPN safe?
Yes, SlickVPN could be a secure VPN: it’s 256-bit AES encryption, a zero-logging policy, and a kill switch. Plus, it has full leak protection built in (not all VPNs have this). SlickVPN uses the OpenVPN protocol (which is extremely secure) and provides double VPN connections through its Hydra server, which adds another layer of encryption.
But I still really like ExpressVPN, because it comes with extras like an audited no-logs policy, RAM-only servers, and excellent forward secrecy.
Is SlickVPN free?
No, SlickVPN does not have a free fix. However, it offers affordable plans and backs them with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
I do not suggest using a free VPN. They are sometimes slow, limit the amount of knowledge you will use, have buggy apps, lack basic security features, and don’t work with streaming sites. It is better to use a premium VPN like ExpressVPN or Private Web Access.
