VPN Unlimited Review in 2021: Features, Pricing & More!

VPN Unlimited (review) was founded in 2013 and is based in the United States (New York).

It is not the simplest jurisdiction for a VPN provider.

However, they boldly state the following on their home page:

Safe, fast, and easy access to any online site

But are they really fast?

And can they really bypass Netflix’s geo-restrictions and keep you safe on a public Wi-Fi network?

In this in-depth VPN Unlimited review, I will do some research and provide you with a detailed review of its cons and pros, also on whether I would like to recommend using this VPN or not.

VPN Unlimited Pros

Working with Netflix has been confirmed.

Since 2016, Netflix has prevented any user from accessing its website through a VPN or proxy. According to our research, approximately 70% of VPNs manage to bypass this block.

VPN Unlimited, fortunately, is not an exception to this law.

These are the subsequent servers we tested:

Unlimited VPN servers that unblock Netflix:

  • United States: California
  • Canada

Unlimited VPN servers blocked by Netflix:

  • Hampshire, UK (BBC iPlayer)
  • Netherlands

2 servers out of 4 worked. So they don’t lie. That is an honest start.

Good 24/7 customer support via live chat

As I’ve said time and time again, most VPN providers are kind of bad when it comes to customer service.

VPN Unlimited is not one of them, much to my surprise.

While it is true that they don’t offer a live chat feature like many of the more premium VPN providers, the standard of their email/ticket support is unmatched.

I submitted an easy inquiry on your website (asking if your services would protect me from someone monitoring network activity directly from the router) around 6:48 PM. My time.

Since it had been a while since I last reviewed their customer service (which is not usually terrible by the way), I just wanted to measure the speed and effectiveness of their support team to determine if anything had improved.

And has…

I was pleasantly surprised when, just 20 minutes later, I opened my inbox to seek a helpful and courteous response from one of their representatives.

When you compare VPN Unlimited’s customer support to several of the opposing VPNs on the market (for example, VPNs like CyberGhost and IPVanish), the standard and speed of their service are quite literally quite remarkable.

While it wouldn’t make it to ExpressVPN’s live chat feature, the support offered by VPN Unlimited can be a breath of fresh air during a market plagued by shoddy customer service.

Strong AES-256 encryption with OpenVPN, IPSec, and others…

The Advanced Encryption Standard, or AES, is used by VPN Unlimited to encrypt your data.

This super-secure encryption standard is the same standard used by federal agencies to transmit sensitive data and is literally the most important secure symmetric encryption standard out there (at least that we all know about).

It’s true that most VPN providers already use AES-256 to encrypt their data, but since security is one of the first concerns when selecting a replacement service, this still counts as a “Pro” in my opinion.

If you carefully examine the list of various VPNs that we have reviewed, you will no doubt notice that most (if not all) of them offer the above VPN tunneling protocols.

Then why would I do this as a “Pro” for VPN Unlimited?

Due to a small special extension.

KeepSolid Wise.

KeepSolid Wise can be a special extension to the OpenVPN tunneling protocol that makes it difficult (almost impossible) to detect.

Consider it your own mask of invisibility.

In countries with oppressive and outdated censorship laws, officials will often seek out people using VPNs to circumvent their draconian regulations.

As soon as they find one of these connections, they will speed up your performance and prevent (or completely stop) your browsing session.

However, with KeepSolid Wise, you will slip through these networks and make your traffic look a bit like the other standard connection.

And while this is usually a huge advantage for VPN Unlimited customers, it is unfortunately not a benefit for all customers.

KeepSolid Wise is currently available on the following devices:

They also have extensions for both Chrome and Firefox as well as compatibility with any Windows phone.

Update: As of January 2018, they should also include the built-in kill switch feature in their app.

Your VPN software is fluid and easy to use

VPN Unlimited’s interface is incredibly easy to use.

After launching your software, you’re just one click away from anonymous browsing, and its simple sidebar lets you quickly find exactly what you’re trying to find.

While some more advanced users may find its interface too simplistic a turnoff, for many customers this easy-to-use control panel will provide everything you simply need and more.

VPN Unlimited Cons

They ain’t fast enough (slow speed)

Whenever you were a kid, you’ve almost certainly heard the statement “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.”

Well, that was true during his childhood and it is true today.

After hearing about their lifetime pricing plan, many of you are probably eager to urge you to get started with VPN Unlimited services, and I don’t blame you.

Unfortunately, their promise to provide secure, fast and direct access to any online site has yet to be fulfilled.

While unlimited VPN is far from the slowest VPN I’ve seen, they rank 50 out of 78 (well below average) and their server (needing 400+, locations in 70 countries) is much slower than NordVPN, which may be a better and cheaper alternative.

These are our results without using a VPN:

Here are the results of our speed tests when using VPN Unlimited:

VPN Unlimited download speed
Article: VPN Unlimited Review in 2021

US Server (New York)

  • Ping: 184ms
  • Download: 25.69 Mbps
  • Upload: 7.31 Mbps

EU Server (Amsterdam)

  • Ping: 37ms
  • Download: 47.13 Mbps
  • Upload: 24.70 Mbps

Asia Server (Hong Kong)

  • Ping: 335ms
  • Download: 12.42 Mbps
  • Upload: 2.92 Mbps

UK Server (London)

  • Ping: 51ms
  • Download: 59.69 Mbps
  • Upload: 42.09 Mbps

More

As always, you should take these tests with a grain of salt, as they will vary wildly and are linked to a variety of uncontrollable variables. That being said, however, I have even searched the web for other tests and even asked several of my colleagues to check the speeds on their network with each reporting equally disappointing results.

While these aren’t the worst download or upload speeds I’ve seen, if speed is essential to your VPN-related efforts, then you should probably inspect some of our other VPN reviews to find a provider that will deliver the performance you’re dealing with. find.

Possibly they keep any records?

Often VPN clients tend to ignore, in their haste to secure their personal information and surfing habits, that any bit of information they are attempting to protect is available to their VPN provider until the privacy policy expressly says otherwise.

It is standard practice for free VPN services to record your personal information and then sell it to advertisers and marketers to buy the services that you are simply using.

Most high-quality VPNs, on the other hand, promise that no information or operation is logged.

VPN Unlimited isn’t one of them, unfortunately.

For starters, VPN Unlimited monitors what percentage of people are trying to access its servers to take care of security and help clients troubleshoot network problems.

That seems harmless enough.

They also keep track of the various clicks you simply make within their software to optimize its interface and ensure that the customer has the best possible experience.

Again, it seems harmless to me.

However, when I started to urge the suspects it was once I learned that they also track the duration of the session of the users to observe the use of the bandwidth with the supposed purpose of “Provide detailed information intended only for each specific user “.

If you’re someone with real security concerns, this suspiciously vague intrusion should raise a couple of red flags, but in my experience, it shouldn’t be a cause for real concern.

While VPN Unlimited’s logging activities are (apparently) innocuous, I prefer a VPN with a strict “Zero Logging” policy.

In the interest of complete honesty, I’d like to make sure that every future VPN Unlimited user is aware of how the company records and preserves their personal information.

While this isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker, VPN Unlimited certainly doesn’t score any points for its logging practices.

Limited torrent download capabilities

If you reside in a country that enjoys free speech and you don’t plan on traveling anytime soon, chances are you are looking for a VPN on the market for one of two reasons.

  1. When using public networks, you want to keep your link safe.
  2. You want the power to torrent online without fear of potential legal consequences

Unfortunately, VPN Unlimited is not of much use to potential customers who fall into the second category.

In answer to the question “Are BitTorrent and other file shares permitted on all servers?” in the VPN Unlimited FAQ, I discovered this.

VPN Unlimited torrenting policy
Article: VPN Unlimited Review in 2021

While I even have little doubt that this stance has earned the approval of anti-piracy advocates around the world, it has also alienated VPN Unlimited from a huge market segment.

If you want a VPN provider with torrent capabilities, VPN Unlimited might not be for you.

After the update, you must restart your machine.

I know this is often a reasonably minor bone to select from, but I couldn’t resist.

With numerous VPNs on the market that allow you to secure your browsing experience just a couple of minutes after making your purchase, I was disappointed to learn that VPN Unlimited requires you to restart your device to prompt you to start their services.

This isn’t exactly a deal-breaker, but considering a number of opposite issues with this VPN, I used to expect a smoother user experience.

Pricing, Plans & Payment Methods

The last time I checked VPN Unlimited, they offered 7 different pricing plans starting at $ 2 for 7 days, all the way up to 2 years of service for around $ 50.

However, the days have changed and therefore the New York team decided to consolidate their plans into a more traditional set of pricing packages (with one exception).

They offer one-month, one-year, and three-year pricing options (all of which are inexpensive), which is a pretty standard rate for a VPN provider.

But where things get interesting is once you review their unprecedented lifetime pricing plan which, as the name implies, means unlimited VPN access … Forever.

This is how it all falls apart.

VPN Unlimited pricing
Article: VPN Unlimited Review in 2021

Monthly Plan: $9.99

When it comes to VPN pricing, VPN Unlimited isn’t breaking any new ground at $ 9.99. This is usually a fairly normal pace that is anticipated everywhere.

This equates to:

  • $9.99 per month
  • $119.88 per year
  • 0% Savings

Yearly Plan: $59.99

  • $5.00 per month
  • 50% savings

3 Years Plan: $99.99

  • $2.78 per month
  • 75% savings

VPN Unlimited, unlike most networks, does not provide a middle ground between its one-month and twelve-month plans. If you want to buy a VPN for short-term travel (i.e. a 3-month business trip abroad), then you’ll probably want to buy a bit more to search for a corporation with a more personalized idea. to your needs.

All plans allow 5 simultaneous connections.

That said, at just $ 5.00 a month, VPN Unlimited’s yearly plan is certainly inexpensive, but as you probably know, NordVPN costs $ 3.49 / month (highly recommended in our review) and personal internet access is even cheaper.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • $5.00 per month
  • $59.99 per year
  • 50% savings

The “Infinity” Plan: $149.99

If you’re scratching your head and muttering “Meh?” at this proposal, you’re not alone. quietly, you are not alone. VPN Unlimited is (literally) the only company I know of to provide a lifetime decision to their customers.

Not to mention that every single thing considered, this plan is pretty cheap.

Only time will tell if this business move is cool or ridiculous, so until then, suffice it to mention that if you set out to employ a VPN for the foreseeable future, this could be the most profitable option in the world (unless, of course, you are willing to accept below-average free service).

VPN Unlimited also offers a 7-day money-back guarantee on all of their plans, so if you’re going to make a sale and later decide it’s not the VPN you’re trying to find, you’ll easily get your money back.

All major payment options are available, such as MasterCard, PayPal, and Bitcoin for anonymous payments.

It’s also worth mentioning that when you sign up, you have “auto-renew” turned on. Unless you intend to keep using them, it’s worth turning it off.

Do I recommend VPN Unlimited?

To put it bluntly …

No, I do not recommend this VPN service. I entered the review process with high hopes.

Your app is fine to hide your IP and protect your data, but …

There are too many much better VPNs on the market (at the same or maybe cheaper price) to choose a service that offers such limited capabilities and slow performance.

Overall, I’d be more satisfied with NordVPN (ranked # 1) or Surfshark (ranked # 2) in our VPN reviews.
