A VPN service from Bulgaria called VPNArea allows torrenting and Netflix. The service has only received a 3.4-star rating overall because of a few problems.
|Based in||Bulgaria [SAFE]|
|Servers||200+ (55 Countries)|
|Multi Login||8 Devices|
VPNArea could be a pretty fascinating VPN service, to mention the smallest amount. Based in the Balkan country, I first heard about VPNArea in 2011. It has grown quite a bit since then. For example, at the time of writing this VPNArea review, I was affected by the fact that it supports 256-bit AES secret writing, features a no-logs policy, offers unlimited information measures, DNS leak protection, and Kill Switches between different options.
The kind of benefits you expect from other famous VPN providers.
But while there is a lot to like about this VPN service, you can’t overlook the fact that it only offers over 200 servers in sixty-five countries. These servers currently work most of the time with Netflix and even support torrenting, however, their best price of $3.21/month is not forgivable when you compare it to Surfshark which offers 3200+ servers for much less.
Another complaint I have with VPNArea is their apps. Even if it is compatible with all major devices, I found its apps quite buggy. Again, this is often something you wouldn’t have to subsume if you opt for VPNs like ExpressVPN.
So, after giving a lot of thought and advice to the execs and cons, I gave VPNArea an overall rating of 3.4 stars.
My Rating Criteria
To take a full look at VPNArea for execs and cons, I used my nine-step rating criteria:
- Jurisdiction: where is VPNArea located?
- Security: Will VPNArea keep logs?
- Leaks: Will VPNArea Leak Information Processing, DNS, WebRTC?
- Servers: Does VPNArea P2P support?
- Speed: how fast is VPNArea?
- Streaming: Will VPNarea work with Netflix?
- Compatibility: with which devices can I use VPNArea?
- Pricing: how much will VPNArea cost?
- Reliability: Is VPNArea reliable?
Jurisdiction – Where is VPNArea located?
As I mentioned earlier, VPNArea is registered in the Balkan country according to its official website. However, it is the complete infrastructure that is physically given away in the Swiss Confederation. each of those places is safe and does not constitute the jurisdiction of the five-eyed, 9-eyed, and fourteen-eyed alliances.
So if you’re worried about your information getting into the hands of police or law enforcement investigation agencies, VPNArea has you covered.
Security – Does VPNArea keep logs?
We do not monitor, record, or store logs of any customer’s VPN activity. We do not monitor, record, or store login dates, timestamps, incoming and outgoing data processing addresses, data metering statistics, or other recognized information of any VPN users who abuse our VPN servers. We tend not to log or track any DNS requests sent to our DNS servers.
Additional Security Features
VPNArea provides additional security precautions in addition to mistreating top-level secret writing with 4096-bit RSA and SHA 512 key variants for authentication. Start with the Anti-DNS leak, would you please?
As the name suggests, Anti-DNS Leak protection essentially allows the VPNArea Chameleon software suite to change your default DNS server. this allows you to cover your web activity from your web service provider. Once you change your DNS servers, your ISP can have no plan of what you are doing on the network.
VPNArea Kill Switch
Kill Switch is another super useful feature that disconnects you from the network in case your VPN association goes down for any reason. This feature comes as an integral part of the VPNArea Chameleon software suite and effectively disconnects your web connection until your VPN connection is re-established.
VPNArea Dedicated IP Address
VPNArea also offers dedicated IP addresses. You can get data processing addresses for eleven countries and the costs vary between $20 and $40 per year depending on the country you choose.
- USA – ($20/year)
- Canada – ($40/year)
- Australia – ($44/year)
- UK – ($30/year)
- Netherlands – ($30/year)
- Germany – ($30/year)
- Romania – ($30/year)
- Sweden – ($40/year)
- Hong Kong – ($40/year)
- Bulgaria – ($30/year)
- Singapore – ($40/year)
Leaks – Does VPNArea leak IP, DNS, and WebRTC?
As I mentioned earlier, VPNArea does not leak your data processing, DNS, and WebRTC information online. I put it through extensive testing and found it to be airtight. Here measure screenshots of the test results:
IP Leak Test:
First, I tested for information processing leaks. To do that, I connected to a server in Denmark and ran the test. As you can see from the screenshot below, my original data processing address is in the dark. at this point therefore sensible.
DNS Leak Test:
Next, I checked for DNS leaks. Currently, since VPNArea comes with DNS leak protection, it managed to indicate no signs of DNS leaks. Consider the screenshot below.
WebRTC Leak Test:
I also checked for WebRTC leak and VPNArea passed the test without any problem. Even after several tests, VPNArea held its own.
Last but not least, I ran their Windows setup file through Virustotal.com and didn’t notice any viruses at all. So, in general, VPNArea is pretty tight.
Servers – Is VPNArea P2P Compatible?
The VPNArea server list is not as detailed compared to other VPN providers like ExpressVPN. The service currently only offers more than 200 servers in fifty-five countries. however, the good thing is that VPNArea will support P2P and torrenting.
They offer many P2P-optimized servers with no data measurement limits. you can consider their server page which has a full list of available servers along with the protocols they support.
Does VPNArea Work in China?
Surprisingly so, VPNArea will add China. However, unfortunately only through Windows/Mac buyers. If you are set in China, you will be able to connect to the following regions:
- southern continent
- United Kingdom
Speed – How Fast is VPNArea?
To test how fast the VPN area was, I ran the Speedtest.net speed test and my base web association of twenty-five Mbps. The test results didn’t impress me much.
I used a twenty-five Mbps web connection before the performing arts tested the speed. Once I connected to your Danmark server, I received a connection speed of twelve.76 Mbps. This is often a huge drop. It suggests that there was a five hundred drop in speed once I connected to the VPNArea.
With the North American nation, I managed to induce slightly higher speeds. On average, the servers of the North American nation managed to reach a maximum of 17.2 Mbps of transfer speed.
Last but not least, I also checked out the abuse of speeds on the UK servers. Once again, the results I got weren’t too spectacular. At maximum, the UK server managed to impose transfer speeds of around fifteen Mbps.
Streaming – Does VPNArea Work With Netflix?
Yes, VPNArea does work amazingly well with Netflix. Considering that most VPNs these days are simply blocked by Netflix, this is usually pretty spectacular. I tried to stream “Steve Jobs” on Netflix and found no problem.
Overall, performance was pretty reasonable and I didn’t notice any lag or buffering issues.
Other Streaming Services that Work With VPNArea
Apart from Netflix, VPNArea also worked with BBC iPlayer. although I am running into a lot of proprietary issues when trying to stream High Blinders with the UK server.
Compatibility – Which Devices Can I Use VPNArea With?
VPNArea is compatible with all leading platforms like Windows, Mac, Android, Linux, and iOS. I tried all the apps and found them to be a bit glitchy. Overall, I found these apps to be easy to navigate. Despite a small amount of insulation material, the apps worked as they should.
VPNArea Windows App
VPNArea Mac App
Furthermore, VPNArea also offers its dedicated apps for mac yet. Kind of like Windows, the app worked, however, it needed a small number of updates from the Associate in Nursing.
VPNArea Android App
Similarly, the VPNArea robot app is also easy to use. Also, they recently released a new line of apps that have more advertising features than previous versions. The app has almost all the features you can find in the VPNArea Windows shopper which is nice to peruse.
VPNArea iOS App
iOS users will connect with OpenVPN and install the service on their iOS devices. OpenVPN Connect is an especially easy ASCII text file program that allows users to align and run it with a symbolic configuration. Detailed area unit guides are available on the VPNArea website to help iOS users find their OpenVPN Connect code.
As I mentioned earlier, VPNArea is not the cheapest VPN out there. Their cheapest fixed prices are much higher than Surfshark’s. What is even more unsatisfying is the undeniable fact that there is no free trial version of VPNArea. Currently, they offer 3 subscription plans. Here is the list of VPNArea’s current value plans:
All plans support eight simultaneous connections. Also, apart from the monthly plan that comes with a fourteen-day money-back guarantee, the rest of the two plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
VPNArea provides dedicated IP packages in addition to the standard subscription levels. Depending on the nation of your choosing, the cost of a VPNArea static IP ranges from $20 to $40 per year. Regarding the list of accepted online payment methods, VPNArea allows credit cards, PayPal, Bitcoin, and more.
Trustworthiness – Is VPNArea Trustworthy?
In general, VPNArea is quite reliable. It received an overall Associate in Nursing rating of 3.1 stars on Trustpilot and is also GDPR compliant. If we tend to come across VPNArea Trustpilot user reviews, you’ll notice that out of ten reviews, sixty-nine of the users have rated the service glorious and the top thirty have rated it unhealthy.
VPNArea Customer Support
When it comes to customer support, VPNArea has some of the fastest customer support I have come across. This could be because they don’t have many buyers. Regardless of what I asked them, the support team responded quickly at minute intervals.
Comparison Between ExpressVPN and VPNArea
If you want to understand the key variations between these 2 VPNs, take a look at this table:
|Price||$6.67/mo (Save 49 percent and get 3 extra months FREE with 12-month plan)||$3.21/mo|
|Servers||3000+ in 94 Countries||200+ in 55 Countries|

Do I Recommend VPNArea?
So when I think about it a lot, yes, I defend VPNArea. Of course, it works with Netflix and other streaming services. It also keeps no logs, has strict Trustpilot reviews, and is also airtight.
However, it is hard to miss the fact that this VPN only offers restricted servers, it is quite slow, and on top of that, it is very expensive compared to other VPNs.
Now, sure the service is good, however, you could get a better bang for your buck with Surfshark. So I supported the VPNArea review I have no hesitation in giving it an overall rating of 3.4/5.0 stars. in case you don’t need to call VPNArea or Surfshark, check out our different VPN reviews.
