VPNTunnel Review In (2024) Features, Plans & More!

VPNTunnel could be a dangerous VPN service, which I strongly suggest avoiding. There are much better options on the market, such as ExpressVPN and Personal Net Access.

While VPNTunnel has 256-bit AES encryption and a kill switch. It does not have a strict no-logs policy and will collect your IP address on non-Swedish servers. What’s more, I hint at DNS leaks while attacking L2TP/IPSec and PPTP protocols.

Also, there are a lot of alternative things I don’t like about this VPN. It doesn’t work with high streaming sites like Netflix and Amazon Prime. It has huge slowdowns on all servers, it’s a small server network. It lacks extra options. like split tunneling and advanced options like RAM-only servers. Also, VPNTunnel only has apps for iOS and Windows (which are basic) and their email support. And ticketing systems are unresponsive and unhelpful.

VPNTunnel allows for five matching connections and comes with paid monthly and yearly plans. It only backs purchases with a meager 7-day money-back guarantee.

FUll VPNTunnel Review

VPNTunnel Review in 2022

I spent a couple of weeks testing VPNTunnel to figure out how it compares to high-end alternative VPNs on the market. Overall, it’s not a decent VPN, and I guess you’re much better off choosing a high-end VPN like ExpressVPN or Private Internet Access.

If you’re buying VPNTunnel, I recommend using it for basic internet browsing only and only with OpenVPN. Protocol (VPNTunnel leaks DNS data over L2TP/IPSec and PPTP).

I don’t like it either, but VPNTunnel offers slow speeds on all of their servers. And the way you can’t access Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime. I don’t think it’s a decent option for torrenting eithe. As it only has P2P servers in 20+ countries (so it’s hard to use a nearby server for fast downloads). Also, VPNTunnel only has iOS and Windows, and both are poorly designed.

VPNTunnel Features

The following industry-standard VPN security measures are available with VPNTunnel:

  • AES 256-bit encryption: VPNTunnel says it protects your knowledge with bank-grade encryption.
  • No Logs Policy – ??VPNTunnel does not collect your online traffic (sites you visit and files downloaded). IP address, however, this statement only applies to their Swedish servers. On servers in alternative countries. VPNTunnel does not make it clear whether it logs users’ IP addresses.
  • Kill Switch – This feature disables your network access if the VPN affiliation drops to stop traffic leaks. However, VPNTunnel’s kill switch is poorly designed because it doesn’t allow the VPN app to mechanically reconnect to the VPN server. (Instead you have to manually reconnect to the server, which is inconvenient).

In addition to a typical kill switch, VPNTunnel also has an Associate in Nursing app-based kill switch. That lets you decide if apps can’t access the network. If the VPN goes offline (PrivateVPN offers the same kill switch).

VPNTunnel comes with the following protocols: PPTP (I suggest avoiding it because it’s not secure), L2TP/IPSec, IKEv2/IPSec, and OpenVPN. I wish VPNTunnel would support WireGuard (like other top VPNs like Private Internet Access and ProtonVPN). Because it’s even as secure as OpenVPN and IKEv2/IPSec, but much faster.

VPNTunnel says it provides IPv6 leak protection but doesn’t mention whether it’s DNS or WebRTC leak protection. Customer support didn’t respond to my email question regarding this, so I ran leak tests on servers in 10+ countries. To see if VPNTunnel prevents traffic leaks, while IPv6 and WebRTC passed without issue. My DNS traffic was leaked (ie my network service provider could see my browsing traffic).

VPNTunnel leaked my DNS data when using L2TP/IPSec and PPTP, but I experienced no DNS leaks with OpenVPN. That said, a good VPN should never leak your data, regardless of the protocol you use. Major providers like ExpressVPN offer complete leak protection across all of their protocols.

VPNTunnel is missing more security features like split tunneling (which lets you choose to have apps use your native network. And apps use the VPN) and doesn’t say whether it provides advanced security features. Like RAM-only servers and excellent forward secrecy. One more time. , customer service did not respond to my confirmation email.

VPNTunnel Privacy & Security

VPNTunnel’s no-logs policy is very sophisticated: it says that it doesn’t log the sites you visit. The files you transfer, your data science address. Or the association and usage timestamps of your information on its Swedish servers. For all servers in the other countries. VPNTunnel’s privacy policy says that the provider doesn’t keep logs of online traffic. But it doesn’t say whether the VPN collects your data science address (which reveals your location). And uses data measurements and connections. timestamps after I reached customer support for clarification I never got a response.

I would prefer to see VPNTunnel conduct an associate degree independent audit of their no-logs policy, which could clear up this confusion and provide greater transparency.

VPNTunnel Review in 2022

VPNTunnel is based in Seychelles, which is outside the jurisdiction of the 5/9/14 Eyes Alliances. (A group of countries that share police investigation information). I don’t like it though, however, it says it will share non-Swedish server information logs with third parties if de jure necessary.

Overall, VPNTunnel has one of the most sophisticated no-logs policies I’ve seen. Major providers like ExpressVPN and ProtonVPN have strict and much easier-to-understand no-logs policies, and both have jointly passed independent audits.

VPNTunnel Speed & Performance

I ran speed tests on my Windows 10 computer. While connected to a server in 25+ countries where VPNTunnel spans a server to see my average VPN speeds.

First, I started my tests by running a speed test while not connected to VPNTunnel. To get a baseline for my native network speeds:

VPNTunnel includes a fast connect feature, but it doesn’t work. Instead of connecting you to the fastest server for your location. It connects you to random servers that don’t offer you the fastest speeds. Therefore, I manually connected to a nearby server within the Czech Republic. (VPNTunnel does not have a server in Romania, my country). These are my speeds:

VPNTunnel Review in 2022

Then I connected to a foreign server within the US:

I was not affected by VPNTunnel speeds. Even on nearby servers within the Czech Republic, I endured pretty big slowdowns: sites loaded instantly, but HD videos took 4-5 seconds to load and 4K videos loaded in 6-7 seconds and there was some buffering. noticeable (5 to 6 seconds) after I skipped them.

On distant servers within the US, the lag was even more noticeable: websites took 3-4 seconds to load, HD videos loaded in five seconds, and there was a little buffering after skipping. videos and 4K videos took 8-10 seconds to load, and I have random drops in quality.

I used OpenVPN in my speed tests: L2TP/IPSec speeds were 60-80% faster than my OpenVPN speeds, but I can’t recommend exploiting this protocol with VPNTunnel because it leaks DNS data.

In general, VPNTunnel causes noticeable slowdowns on nearby and distant servers. Major providers like ExpressVPN and Personal Internet Access offer much faster speeds on all servers.

VPNTunnel Servers & IP Addresses

VPNTunnel has over 150 in over 25 countries, which pales in comparison to top providers like ExpressVPN (3000+ in over 90 countries) and ProtonVPN (1700+ servers in over 60 countries). While VPNTunnel has servers in most parts of the world, its small number of servers means it’s possible to annoy overcrowded servers, which can cause major slowdowns.

VPNTunnel allows you to download torrents on servers in more than 20 countries, so it would be difficult to search and connect to a nearby server to induce fast downloads. Most of the top VPNs provide much better P2P support, as well as torrenting on servers in other countries.

Netflix and BBC iPlayer both have dedicated streaming servers available through VPNTunnel in the US; my friend in the UK verified that the BBC iPlayer servers function, however my colleague in the US said that the Netflix servers never worked for the. If you want a VPN with dedicated streaming servers, I recommend CyberGhost VPN, as their servers in 10+ countries work with 50+ streaming services (including Netflix and BBC iPlayer).

In general, VPNTunnel supports torrenting on most servers, however, their server network is too small compared to the top alternative providers. Additionally, it features specialized streaming servers for Netflix and BBC iPlayer, but the Netflix servers are broken.

VPNTunnel Streaming & Torrenting

VPNTunnel is quite dangerous for streaming, although it works with HBO Soap and BBC iPlayer, it cannot access Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+.

If you’re looking for a very smart streaming VPN, I’d recommend ExpressVPN – it consistently works with Netflix and you can also access over 65 alternative streaming apps.

VPNTunnel Review in 2022

And I don’t recommend VPNTunnel for torrenting either – it only allows you to download torrents on servers in 20+ countries (so it’s troublesome to look for a nearby server for fast speeds) and it leaks your DNS knowledge (which will reveal which P2P sites you’re browsing). ) after using the L2TP/IPSec or PPTP protocols.

There are much better P2P VPNs out there: for example, Private Internet Access lets you torrent on servers in 80+ countries, is unfiltered, and comes with port forwarding (allows you to connect with additional peers to induce faster downloads). ).

In general, VPNTunnel doesn’t work with major sites like Netflix and only allows P2P traffic on servers in 20+ countries (plus leaks user data).

VPNTunnel Plans & Pricing

VPNTunnel has monthly and annual paid plans. Allows five synchronous connections (business custom is 5 to 7 synchronous connections).

VPNTunnel’s plans, which start at $3.33/month, are quite reasonable; That said, they’re still not worth it because you get a much better price with top competitors like ExpressVPN, and IPVanish VPN.

VPNTunnel accepts credit/debit cards, PayPal, and ideal cash. It only comes with a measly 7-day money-back guarantee (most major VPNs have a 30-day money-back guarantee); What’s worse, the terms of service say that you will only get a refund at the discretion of “VPNTunnel.com”.If you ask, most VPNs will immediately issue a refund.

Overall, VPNTunnel is reasonable (but doesn’t give any value), accepts many payment strategies, and only comes with a 7-day money-back guarantee.

VPNTunnel Ease of Use: Mobile & Desktop Apps

Only iOS and Windows have dedicated apps from VPNTunnel. it is an automaton app, however, it is not offered on the google play store. Instead, you want to manually launch the app on your device’s victimization AN .apk file, and you have to call support reps for the file because it’s not offered on the VPNTunnel website (worse yet, VPNTunnel doesn’t ). has a setup guide to tell you ways to build your .apk app). If you want a VPN that has an easy-to-install automatic app and also covers macOS, Linux, smart TVs, and routers, I’d recommend ExpressVPN.

The iOS app is easy to install, the interface is quite intuitive, and the app doesn’t have many options, so beginners won’t feel overwhelmed. However, it lacks a rapidly connect capability and makes no mention of a kill switch. Honestly, I think there are much better iOS apps out there; for example, NordVPN is easier and it also shows off switches within your app.

I wasn’t affected by the Windows app either: it’s basic, there’s no quick connect feature, and there’s no search field for servers (so you want to scroll through a lengthy list of sites where you can find the desired server. The best alternative providers have considerably better Windows apps.

In general, VPNTunnel only has apps for iOS and Windows, and they are not that great. All the other high VPNs have apps for all major platforms that are much more secure, feature-rich, and easy.

VPNTunnel Customer Support

VPNTunnel Review in 2022

VPN Tunnel has FAQs, setup tutorials, email support, and support tickets. is a live chat button on their website, however, live chat support was never offered after using VPNTunnel.

I think VPNTunnel has good setup guides as they cover most devices, are easy to follow, and even include screenshots. however, their FAQ area unit is pretty useless – they don’t always provide helpful answers and many FAQ area units are outdated (for example, their list of payment methods mentions Stripe and WebMoney, which aren’t available) or contradict each other (a VPNTunnel list from 2015 mentioned above does not log any information, however, a different list mentioned above, no logs policy is only offered for Swedish servers).

don’t know why VPNTunnel offers email support because I sent multiple emails and never got a reply. I also submitted multiple support price tags and VPNTunnel reps only addressed themselves in one ticket (but didn’t answer all my queries and only provided vague and unhelpful answers); What’s worse, the support representatives closed all my alternative tickets without addressing them. !

Overall, I prefer VPNTunnel’s setup guides, but I find their FAQ, email support, and ticketing system area unit to be terrible. All other high VPNs in 2022 offer significantly better customer support.

Is VPNTunnel Worth the Money

VPNTunnel doesn’t offer any pricing so I recommend you avoid it and go for one of the best VPNs like ExpressVPN or NordVPN.

VPNTunnel comes with the bank-grade secret script and a kill switch however I don’t like it however it’s confusing no logs policy only applies to servers in Sverige (VPNTunnel doesn’t say if it logs IP addresses, use of measures of information, and association timestamps on servers in alternative countries). Also, VPNTunnel leaked my DNS information after I used L2TP/IPSec and PPTP protocols.

VPNTunnel has a lot of fallback issues: it can’t access standard streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, it causes noticeable slowdowns, its server network is too small, and it lacks more options (like split tunneling) and security features. advanced (such as RAM-only servers). Also, it only has (poor) apps for iOS and Windows and provides mostly non-existent customer support via email and its ticketing system.

VPNTunnel comes with five synchronous connections and paid monthly and yearly plans. Solo backs purchases with a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Bottom Line

I don’t recommend abusing VPNTunnel because it’s not secure and there are much better VPNs on the market A kill switch and 256-bit AES encryption are both features. Still, its no-logs policy only covers servers in Sverige (the provider is unclear it if logs users’ IPs to servers in other countries), and the VPN leaks DNS information if you use the L2TP/IPSec and PPTP protocols.

What’s more, VPNTunnel can’t access popular sites like Netflix, has slow speeds, spans a small network of servers, and doesn’t have more options like split tunneling or advanced options like RAM-only servers. Also, it only has apps for iOS and Windows, and its email support and ticketing system are unresponsive and unhelpful. VPNTunnel has paid monthly and yearly plans, that square measure clad in a 7-day money-back guarantee.

FAQs

Is VPNTunnel secure?

No, while VPNTunnel has 256-bit AES write secret and a kill switch, it did leak my DNS information when I used the L2TP/IPSec and PPTP protocols (I didn’t experience leaks with OpenVPN, but a secure VPN shouldn’t leak your information). regardless of the protocol you use). Also, VPNTunnel’s no-logs policy is confusing and would log your IP address to non-Swedish servers (plus, the provider says it will share user information with third parties if required by law).

If you’re trying to find a very secure VPN, I like to recommend ExpressVPN – they’re all essential VPN security measures (including an independently verified and audited no-logs policy), never leaked my information in my tests, and come with security measures. advanced security alternatives, such as RAM-only servers (every server reboot erases all data).

Does VPNTunnel work with Netflix?

No, even if you use VPNTunnel’s dedicated Netflix servers. VPNTunnel also doesn’t work with alternative websites like Amazon Prime and Disney+ (but it will access BBC iPlayer and HBO Max).

If you’re looking for a brilliant Netflix VPN, I’d recommend ExpressVPN instead: it works seamlessly with Netflix and can access over 65 alternative streaming apps together.

Is VPNTunnel good for torrenting?

No, because VPNTunnel only allows you to download torrents from servers in 20+ countries (so it’s hard to find a nearby server for fast transfer speeds). Also, VPNTunnel leaks DNS data (so your ISP will see which P2P sites you access) if you use L2TP/IPSec and PPTP protocols and need to register your scientific address on non-Swedish servers.

There are much better P2P VPNs out there – ExpressVPN is my favorite torrenting VPN because it allows P2P traffic on 3000+ servers in 90+ countries, provides excellent security measures (including full leak protection), and has blazing-fast transfer speeds. fast.

Does VPNTunnel have fast speeds?

No, I experienced very noticeable slowdowns on nearby and remote servers when I abused VPNTunnel – HD and 4K videos took too long to load. VPNTunnel was able to give the US state faster speeds after I used the L2TP/IPSec protocol, but I can’t recommend that protocol or PPTP because they both leak DNS data with this VPN.

If you want the fastest VPN on the market, I highly recommend ExpressVPN. It provides blazing-fast speeds across all servers via its proprietary Lightway protocol: HD and 4K videos load continuously instantly, massive files transfer super fast, and you’ll play online games without experiencing high ping.
